HOW TO USE A COIR AS GROWING MEDIUM – EASY GUIDE

Hi everyone, today VINA COCO PEAT would like to update a guide of using coir growing medium. That are some simple steps below:

1. Hydration: Coir is often sold in compressed blocks or bricks. To use, you must hydrate it by soaking in water. The block will expand and can then be broken apart for use.
2. Mixing with Other Media: Coir can be used on its own or mixed with other growing media like perlite, vermiculite, or compost to create a custom blend suited to specific plant needs.
3. Nutrient Addition: Since coir is low in nutrients, it is essential to supplement with fertilizers. Use balanced, water-soluble fertilizers or incorporate slow-release fertilizers into the coir mix.
4. pH Monitoring: While coir is pH neutral, it’s still a good practice to regularly check the pH of your growing medium, especially if you notice signs of nutrient deficiencies.

Applications of Coir:

1. Seed Starting: Coir’s fine texture and moisture retention make it ideal for germinating seeds.
